There was a post about a month ago with several people talking about their car having hiccups. Has anyone found a solution???
Here's the scenerio for those of you who missed it:
Driving at part throttle between 2K and 3K RPM at a constant speed (not really accelerating or decelerating)...suddenly the air/fuel guage burries itself in the lean side. Here's the options I have:
1. Continue to drive without accelerating and the car will recover after about 7 seconds and return to normal. The guage begins to operate with a normal full sweep and everything is great.
2. If I give it gas during the lean session it will bog down terribly for a couple of seconds and suddely lunge forward...snapping back into normal operating mode.
3. If I shift gears it will correct the problem immediately...but return shortly afterwards.
I'm really starting to think that this may be caused by the gutted cat. Possibly a backpressure issue? Like I said, it's only under normal constant driving at lower RPM's (between 2-3 RPM's)
I know there's other people having this problem as well...in fact I have a friend with a 300ZX TT that has the same problem. His cats are gutted as well.
Any suggestions are welcome
Kurt

I'm not sure about the problem being related to fuel delivery becuase it runs perfect under WOT. I also runs great on the interstate because the RPM's are steady at 4K RPM's. It's also strange how the car will bogg for about 7 seconds and suddenly return to perfect condition instantly. Maybe my car's possessed by an evil Cobra I took down. hehe

My best time was a 13.6. Since then I've gutted my cat, added water injection, and bumped my timing up to stock. I'd probably run a 13.3 now.
It's a GSR running 6-1/2 PSI

4drsleeper,
you need to change out your plugs to a fresh set.

I was thinking the same thing but our selection of plugs in Mobile is sad at best. I'll just have to order some BKR7E's and see if that helps. I can't imagine that being the problem but I've seen stranger things happen.

I had been having the same problem as well. Steps that I did in an attempt to correct the problem...
1: changed plugs
2: replaced distributer
3: checked timing
4: Ran injector cleaner
5: Replaced fuel filter
6: reset ecu
Solution that I had found so far... (BTW it's not a fix, I'm just waiting until I get my hondata) I removed the JRSC relay. Once I did that most of my hiccups went away. I still get an occaisional bog but nowhere near as badly as I did previously.

96 GSR w/ JRSC @6 psi, AEM intake, DC Sport headers, RSR exhaust, Tein coilovers, Clutchmaster stage 3 clutch, Clutchmaster flywheel, Phantom Grip LSD, brembo X-drilled rotors, steel lines, race pads, Super AFC, DC sports Front and rear tower braces. 14.2 @ 102 on 17's. Going for big boost soon....

I KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS!!! (i think, haha)
I was the one who posted the hiccup post a while back. I tried everything. Come to find out, it was the secondary O2 sensor. I've heard from so many people that all the 02 sensor does is monitor the car. Well, that's wrong. I unplugged the O2 sensor complete and now there is NO hiccup. The car runs extremely smooth. It sux having the CEL on all the time though.
Hope this helps. Tell me if I'm right.
To unplug the O2 sensor, just pull the wire from out of the car. You'll then see the wiring harness to unplug.
